Behavioral Health

NOTE: Dr. Philip’s services are currently available only through telehealth access, as he is currently helping U.S. service members on a full-time basis. We have partnered with other behavioral health clinicians available locally for in-person care.

As part of our integrated team of providers, we are pleased to offer accessible services, in-house or through video/tele-therapy, by a skilled health psychologist, Dr. Chris Phillips. In addition to general mental health needs, Dr. Phillips specializes in anxiety, trauma, and medical life issues (pain management, cancer, sleep issues, TMJ, etc.).

Dr. Phillips has over 20 years of experience as a therapist, holds two master’s degrees from Abilene Christian University, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His experience also includes prior service as an active duty psychologist in the US Air Force and currently serves a broad spectrum of active duty and civilian patients.

In addition to being an established counseling health psychologist, he has presented at numerous national conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of diabetes management, career stress, pain management, cancer psychology, trauma, and many other topics.

Dr. Phillips is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. His therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help patients effectively address personal life challenges. He integrates scientifically grounded methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each patient. With compassion and understanding, Dr. Phillips works with individuals to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Behavioral health providers are trained in a variety of ways and through different schools of thought. While being sensitive to a variety of perspectives, our behavioral health services are primarily offered from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. Dr. Phillips, our licensed psychologist, strives to learn about and understand how you think about things (e.g., your values, upbringing, family structure, schooling, and religious influences, including what you’ve learned from friends, teachers, pastors, coaches, and key mentors).  He also explores how these cognitive influences have impacted your behavior and your mood. In order to serve your needs Dr. Phillips provides individual counseling for adolescents, teens, and adults of all ages.  Although he is trained to offer a broad range of services Dr. Phillips has particular expertise in helping patients with issues such as (but not limited to):
